Dusty didn't play newly acquired Phil Nevin because he wanted to keep Walker and newly acquired Tony Womack's bats in the lineup because they were swinging hot bats. (Despite Walker going 0 for 7 I like to see Walker's bat in there.)
I'm old but...I remember two days ago highly regarded Neifi Perez played and batted 2nd (and his .206 batting avg) while "hot hitting" Tony Womack (he was 8 of 16) sat. Was Tony tired? Thursday was an off day, too? Which is it Dusty, hot or not? Or are you trying to cool him down?
Sean Marshall going out in the 7th (especially when the lead off hitter got on)? Dusty expecting Marshall to put down a bunt? HIS position players can't bunt why should a pitcher?
Wasn't the idea Eyre and Howry to get you thru the 7th and 8th and Dempster finishes the 9th? Marshall gives up 1 run thru 6. I would count my blessings and give it to my bullpen. Noooo!! Not Dusty! He brings Marshall out in the 7th so he can walk someone to lead off the inning. Even though relievers SHOULD be able to come in to stop an uprising I would prefer them to start an inning instead of coming into a situation!
DUSTY SUCKS!! Doesn't he look like Big Bird? Goofy lookin'.
